Andy Capp...
« on: November 15, 2008, 01:54:11 PM »
I know Andy Capp is published all over the world, and, (as I've mentioned before), I was delighted to be able to see it in Manila daily newspapers while on my travels in the Philippines. What puzzled me, in this instance, was that the strip had any appeal to filipinos. (I'm assuming that the paper wouldn't include it in their comic pages if they didn't enjoy it).

The characters are very English; Andy's into football, which is a sport that gets next to no coverage there; and I don't recall ever seeing any foreign characters in the strip. I'm delighted, of course, but am I right to be mystified?

Even murderers don't complete their sentences nowadays, so why should we?

Help me! I'm turning into Mince.  It should be "Neither of those is a complete sentence."

Sorry my first post in a while was that one - it just screamed at me.  As I said, help me!!

Let me offer you a cup of Vuture's tea.
People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Joan, you just know Mince'll waffle on about how he is correct and you've misunderstood the tense or the participal or some such rubbish......
