The Latest Modern Technology
« on: February 10, 2009, 05:11:46 PM »
We do take a lot for granted regarding modern technology. I was reminded of this yesterday, whilst out having a tramp in the fields.

Before I left the house, I put some clothes into a machine I have in my kitchen. I then added a capsule of detergent, switched it on, and (here's the good bit), - while I was away, the machine washed all the clothes for me!

They were clean and ready for me to unload by the time I got back.

In the olden days, I would have had to have been there doing the scrubbing. Modern technology allowed me to have my freedom whilst the work was undertaken by this machine. I say, "Isn't life wonderful".

Maybe one day we'll have committees using modern technology.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

That mechanical-washer of yours sounds good but, as I have a wife and a river nearby, I can't see me investing in one.

That's nothing.

I've got a machine that makes bread if I put flour in it, and if I put fruit and sugar in, it makes jam.

Versatile, y'see.  Not like your machine that just washes clothes.

Versatile, y'see.  Not like your machine that just washes clothes. My washing machine also washes trainers!

Hi, Petal. (Are you from up North?)

Cool. If you put everything in your magic machine at once will it make jam sandwiches?

Yeah, How did you know?

I wonder if I could make pizza and cake in my machine...

Diane, I'll have to try making jam butties  ;)

Define "up North", Vult and Petal.
I apologise, in advance.

Well, Tarks, my 'up north' is Liverpool but I think Petal is further north than that!

I was going to say that I say grass, not graaaaas which makes me a northerner.

However, given that last note I might be a little more specific.  I'm from Seaforth.

Oh. Not far from where I was born. I thought you were from Newcastle, or thereabouts - 'Petal' seems to have originated from there.
