The Perfect Housewife
« on: February 16, 2009, 07:01:41 PM »
I love this BBC show with Anthea Turner - it is nice to see people have homes that are as messy or even messier than my own. It is cool how just hard work, some thowing away the "tat" and some systems can change a slum into a palace in under two weeks.

I thought we should have a Beau Peep thread with housekeeping tricks and hostessing tips - I'm sure that you have many timesaving nuggets you want to share.

You can use this thread to post photos of items if you are not sure are family heirlooms or junk and we can vote on it.

Boy is this ever going to be fun - spring cleaning with Beau Peep - this year.

I think the idea of posting housework tips for the women is brilliant. I'm usually a little reticent to point out shortcomings, but I think my demeanor usually indicates that not all is as it should be, when it's appropriate.

Who is Viz?

I don't know Peeps, this thread is going to make the housework so much fun you wouldn't want to miss out on the opportunity to participate.

Diane,
Viz is a comic which emanated in the NE of England which used to be an absolute hoot but which now isn't as funny. Or so I hear.

However, a number of humour legends began in Viz, such as Johnny Fartpants, The Fat Slags, Biffa Bacon and many others.
One of the articles they used to feature was the Top Tips page, full of useless but funny hints, such as "next time you pop out to the shops to buy apples, buy onions, they're so much cheaper".

Ah, the Viz. The defining publication of my adolescence.
I used to love the Top Tips page too.

I've so far been silent on this thread. I would hate my silence to be misinterpreted as some kind of a general dislike of housekeeping. Absolute detestation would be far nearer the mark.

I do it - I don't have to like it.
I apologise, in advance.

But I bet you have some good short-cut tips, Tarks?

Tarquin, if you absolutely detest housework, simply turn away, or go out while she's doing it. You don't have to watch for goodness sake.

Also, refrain from giving advice or criticism. Better to have a job done to 80% standard, than a discarded duster and next to nothing done at all!
