Thanks, Diane - at least
you care!
Peeps, Lucy and Joshua are probably still wending their merry way towards the ferry as I type, but let me tell you the weekend has been an outstanding success. We raised loads of money for lunch, along with the roof of the Brimfield village hall. Peeps and I, being instrumental illiterates, managed to hog the microphones for most of the event, and I think it's safe to say that everyone there, without exception, commented on the fact that they'd never heard the like before.
I hope to have official photographs from the gig available as soon as they get back from the chemist, so watch this space, and give thanks to Diane for her sterling efforts.
There were so many highlights, but I think one of the abiding memories of the day will be my duet with Peeps, singing 'Dedicated Follower Of Fashion' by The Kinks. I confess, I was still in some doubt about Peepsie's karaoke abilities prior to this weekend, wondering if indeed he may have been exaggerating his own talents. I'm in absolutely no doubt now.
I had taken my new harmonica (tambourines are for sissies) which Sam had bought me for my recent birthday, and which came with a tutorial DVD that promised to have me "wailing like a pro in no time" (I kid you not), and I had also invested in a 'Stylophone' application for my iPhone which turned it into an authentic replica of the classic Rolf Harris-endorsed 70s instrument, but such was the demand for me and Peepsie to entertain with our vocal chords, both were kept under wraps.
We all enjoyed a delightful pub meal post gig, and since I wasn't driving home last night, I even treated myself to a couple of pints of Guinness, while Peepsie enjoyed a couple of bottles of red wine.
Hope you all got home safely, old chum - it was a pleasure as always, and a delight to finally meet Lucy and Joshua.
