Happy St. Patrick's Day!
« on: March 17, 2009, 10:56:06 PM »
I wonder why they say "A pinch of Irish luck" when the Irish were such unlucky poor buggers?

I am one quarter Irish - can anyone top that?

My maternal grandmother was half Irish/half Scottish; my maternal grandfather was all Welsh and my father was Chinese.

That's the most complex spelling mistake you've ever made, Peter!

I have a German mother and a Scottish father. We used to do very efficient Burns Suppers.
I apologise, in advance.

This year I am trying to celebrate all the holidays of the countries that make up my children's ancestors.

They are 1/4 Scottish (Burns) 1/8 Irish (St. Patties) 1/4 English (we celebrate Victoria Day in Candada and I fly my Union Jack) 1/8 French (Bastile Day) 1/8 German (Christmas tree) and 1/8 Norwegian which is the hard one as I don't think they do much.

We have had snow on the ground since November 5th - so I think throwing a St. Pattie's party yesterday was in order. Made cute shamrock cookies and served potato soup and shaved ham sandwiches.

Roll on Bastile Day!
