Tricky math question

One year ago, I was in my prime.
Twelve years ago, I was a power of a prime.
Now, my digits are powers of primes.

I'm confused now.

The answer is 44.

One year ago, I was in my prime.
That makes 43. Yep, 43 is a prime number. I can see that.

Twelve years ago, I was a power of a prime.
Is this twelve years from now (44) or one year ago?
If from now, twelve years ago is 32, which isn't a prime number. 31 is a prime number however. And can't any number be a power? 24 to the power of 10 etc? Ah, but 2 to the power of 5 equals 32. I'm getting there...

Now, my digits are powers of primes.
Got it! 2 to the power of 2 is 4!

I'm not confused now.

This was one of the "fun" questions my son as given by the science teacher. Others were classics such as house with 4 southern windows - what colour was the bear.

I'm all for equality, but I'm not sure women should really worry their pretty little heads about prime numbers etc. Not while they have other pressing matters. And, as well as the ironing, there's washing-up and other stuff too.
