My Desktop won't burn dvd?
« on: September 06, 2009, 09:16:33 PM »
Hi

Whenever I try to burn a music DVD on iTunes it starts making this odd clicking noise and doesn't end up burning the DVDRW.
I tried using the regular drag and drop onto the DVDRW burning folder itself and it still makes this strange clicking sound.
I'm using esperanza CD and they worked fine when I first got them then all of a sudden it's doing this.
I've tried another brand of disk (esperanza) and it's still making the same noise...

Help anyone?

Crap Attachment. Removed by the powers-that-be.

We've had about 20 new "members" joining in the last 2 days since Mince fixed the issue of people not being able to join.  ..0

Clearly we are now being flooded by idiots with robotic names, with nothing to contribute.

I'm hoping Mince will fix it.

I've removed a good (not) dozen myself in the past couple of days, including a couple of very dubious posts. I didn't know Mincey had 'fixed' the forum.  ..0 I didn't know it needed fixing. I altered the application procedure some time ago so that approval had to be given to new members. Why was that again? Oh, yes, to stop the flood of robotic applications that were seeing us bombarded with dozens of spamming spambots every hour. Now I remember.  ..0

So, what was the issue with people not being able to join? I'd have thought that waiting for approval from an Admin was a small price to pay to stop all of that robotic garbage? Or was the whole process in a state of glitch with all the other stuff that's been going wrong recently?
I apologise, in advance.

I had an email from someone who was finding it impossible to join, as something was amiss with the verification technique.

He wrote to me, and I advised Mince, and the guy was subsequently able to come on board. (He's ordered a bunch of mugs too, so thanks go to him.)

Mind you, the volume of traffic has suddenly gone mad the past month - so much so that the host's asking for an extra ?54, and that's just for last month only.

We need to sort this out fast. I'm hoping Mince will be able to do it, as he was the one who persuaded me to switch to our current host when we did. It seemed to be cheaper at the time, but boy, has that gone out the window!

Obviously Pilch Mince didn't intend this to happen, so he shouldn't be blamed. It's just unfortunate.

I will move the forum to a new "unlimited" host once I have my students settled.

I received email notification of a new topic on Beau Peep that was DEFINITELY pornographic!! Fortuntately, I set up a separate email provider that handles anything 'dubious', so my granddaughters didn't get to see it!   :o :o

Removed it, Vult. I suggest we close 'automatic entry' again. Got to go out, so could one of you other chaps do it please?
I apologise, in advance.

I really ought to upgrade this site and open registration again.
