I have switched off Guest Posting (allowing someone who is not logged in to post). I did this because I noticed spam posts being posted by robots (which means by a program on a hijacked computer, if that makes things clearer).

Do we need guest posting switched on? (At the moment, the spam robots seem to have given up.)

As usual, when something technical crops up, I have little idea what you're talking about. So my view is...um...do it. Or not.

Roger, this actually might concern you. Spam robots have been known to track down actual members. If you see a robot prowling outside your house, don't answer the door: it will just sell you tins of spam.

Do you think there's any chance it might track me down too? I love Spam.
I apologise, in advance.

No. The robots tend to filter out the poor, the insane and the stupid.

I bet they've got a lot of those hijacked computers in Cuba.
I apologise, in advance.

I'm one of those pull-up-the-ladder-after-I've-climbed-it people.
I think people should register, as it keeps out the riff raff and general numpties.

I think we should all wear blazers too, and only post using webcams so we can see each others blazers. Naturally this won't stop people from wearing nothing but a blazer, but there are always a few clowns.

I think we are a great bunch of riff raff and general numpties.

I don't really know what a numpties is but seeing there is a plan afoot to cut off the stupid I am not going to admit to that.

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Actually, registration won't bar the stupid, numpties can take part in this forum exactly as before, but they have to register.
Numpties shouldn't have any problem registering, I didn't.

I was expecting Tarquin to come out in defence of the robots.  :)

I had a blazer once that made me look like Humpty Dumpty.

I suppose that makes me the Humpty Dumpty Numpty!
