Malcolm's Birthday
« on: November 01, 2009, 06:01:26 PM »
It shows on facebook as being Malcolm's birthday on Monday, so I added it to the calendar.

Anyway, it's already Monday in Australia, but it's still Sunday here, and Malcolm's in the UK at the moment! By my reckoning that means he's sacrificing a big chunk of his special day by being here.

Isn't it?

Oh, and congratulations on Dundee Utd conceding a goal, failing to score, yet still going unbeaten today, Roger! Hope you enjoyed the game.

Happy birthday, Malcolm! I'm afraid this was the only cake left in our village shop, so it'll have to do. It's not wholly appropriate, because I wouldn't say you're old. But many happy returns anyway, fellah!

I apologise, in advance.

Happy Birthday Malc - I was going to get the cake but see that TTIII has already done that - must have been a mix up at the bakers eh? You're not old are you?

....but not everyone's been up the M1, as the old Joan Collins joke goes.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I'm at my mum's in Saltcoats, and have already phone Peeps to arrange a visit to Bute tomorrow (3rd). I will catch the ferry in Largs.
Weather has been horrible, but I lived here for many a year and it would be very unusual to have bright sunny weather in November. Last night it sounded like a hurricane was pounding my mum's windows, the rain was hitting the house sideways, and it brought back fond reminders of why I left.
Still, tomorrow will be great, Peeps has promised that I needn't put my hand in my pocket, it's all laid on - free this, free that, cakes, jelly and lashings of ginger beer. I will pay for the ferry, of course.

Well, if you catch the ferry in Largs, you'll end up on Great Cumbrae!  ..0

You need to go a few miles further north to Wemyss Bay!

As for being scared of a bit o' weather, maybe the cake was apt after all.  :P
I apologise, in advance.

I'm in Saltcoats library posting this, I did go to the wrong ferry terminal (Largs) and even though I'd given myself plenty of time, had to whizz up to Wemyss Bay to catch the ferry tae Rossy.
Did not have my camera, so no pics unfortunately :-\
Met the lovely Lucy, who took time off to meet me for lunch and Peeps was the gracious host, giving me a quick tour and paying for the meal.
We had a great three-game pool championship in one pub and I was taken to the scene of Peepsie's many karaoke triumphs. Peeps is a lovely bloke, with a great sense of humour, as you might suspect and it was smashing to meet up with him in the flesh, so to speak.
Tarks, it doesn't look like I'll catch you on the way down, unfortunately, though that was my plan. I will have my sister Liz with me, as we're going straight to Dorset -  a long drive which I will wnat to get over as quick as possible. I will make a point of coming to Oswestry next time
