I cannot believe it...

...They're making an A-Team film.

I don't know about you lot, perhaps you won't care in the slightest, but watching this trailer my gut wrenched from one godawful moment to the next as I watched a childhood memory being taken outside and stomped upon by a herd of angry elephants.

I cannot actually find words to do justice to how wrong the wrongness of this wrongness is just plain wrong. With added wrong.

Some of our older posters may wish to imagine how they would feel if Harold Lloyd's classic "Safety Last!" was remade, but with the main character played by that bald guy from Eastenders, who rather than climbing the tower, flies past it in a helicoptor and starts shooting rocket launchers at it.

If I were you, I wouldn't watch the movie.
People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Couldn't stand the original A-Team. A million bullets an episode and not so much as a flesh wound. Sorry, Jack, but this can only be better.
I apologise, in advance.

That was part of the charm! The team were drafted in by a girl whose Pappy was being terrorised by the local hoodlums, came up with an extremely ridiculous plan to rescue him, lots of explosions and bullets flying around, then the A-Team drive away having saved the day, while Unnamed Criminal Lackey #5 and #6 stands up and dusts himself down, shaking his head in awe of the whooping he just got handed to him. Full of action, but fun!

They have said that this is going to be "dark" and "gritty" with a massive body count. So in other words, totally against the spirit of the original show. It could be just any other action blockbuster, but with a known brand slapped on it to get more attention.

Besides which, how can you possibly recast this guy?

A French poodle on steroids ought to do it.

Seeing the title, I assumed this thread was about the Dundee United result tonight.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

Sorry, The A Team was utter, utter, utter rubbish. If it had been a kids series I could have forgiven all, but it was a PRIME time show in the USA and UK. It marked a nadir in TV programming and filmmaking.

The fact that they're making a movie of it shows the lack of ideas and originality present in today's market. No wonder James Cameron is cleaning up at the box office.

See this smiley?  >:( I'm much more angry than that.

Well, to be honest I always have viewed it as a kids series. Or, a family show that kids could enjoy, and their parents could watch if they were willing to accept it as good silly fun, and not to be taken seriously. Intellectual viewing it is not, and nor is it meant to be.

And yes, as a young kid, I thought it was great.

My boys loved A-Team when they were small. Before that, it was Dukes of Hazard. I had to record them and they must have worn the tapes out, they were played so often.

At least your expression there also answers my question about how to recast Mr. T.

 ;D  Brilliant, Jack!

I had Malc's new avatar cast as a different star of the silver screen - that plumber from The Sound Of Music...

All together now.... "Edelweiss, edelweiss...."

I apologise, in advance.
