I didn't see the show, Nige, but your description of it pretty well sums up my thoughts about The Two Ronnies. Occasional gems amongst a pile of really average stuff. I hated the musical finales and, while some of Barker;s contrived wordplay sketches were quite clever, they were seldom funny. They just never clicked with me.
