Operation Valentine's Day
« on: February 05, 2011, 05:18:46 PM »
Attention Peeps!

Operation Valentine’s Day (OVD) will occur in 8 days and 14 hours.
How are we going to engage in this mission?
Ideas?
Plans?
Romantic movie suggestions?

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

I thought I'd treat my beloved to 'A Little Bit Of Heaven' at the lovely new cinema complex in Wrexham. And while she enjoys that, I'll be in Cinema 3 watching the Green Hornet in 3D.
I apologise, in advance.

That sounds like a perfect idea TTIII - but lord knows people wouldn't go for that. Hubby and I kinda do. I rent rom-coms or chick flicks (because sometimes one just feels the need) and we watch them in bed together and he falls asleep within 10 minutes.  I much prefer it to when he was younger and was able to stay awake and say "bunch of junk" all through it.

the movies of course.

Do you know he missed the scene in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 days" where the Chinese Crested is wearing the same outfit as Matthew MacConahie (sp) and the scene in "The Proposal" where Sandra Bullock offers the little fluffy dog to the eagle in exchange for her cell phone.

Sometimes I just love to watch chick flicks.

I detect a tiny hint of disapproval, Vult. Do you think I should take her to see The Green Hornet with me?
I apologise, in advance.

As most of us on this site are...um...past the first flush of youth, do any of you still take Valentine's Day seriously? Does your partner get upset if you ignore it? Do YOU get upset if your PARTNER ignores it? I like to think I'm reasonably romantic but I really can't be bothered with it all and, thankfully, my wife thinks the same. Having said that, I'm not as bad as a friend of mine who, when asked if he celebrated Valentine's Day, replied  "Yes---we have a ceasefire and neither of us carry weapons."

Valentines Day is rubbish and I'm giving it a miss this year. I hate all these stupid, commercially driven celebrations and festivals that just set-ups for extracting money from the pockets of gullible mugs.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

No, Tarks. I was just making a comment.  Are there any mainly naked men in The Green Hornet?

I was married once; HE never took any notice of any possible romantic  celebrations  - Christmas, birthdays, birth of a child.  For my 21st birthday (1967) I was given a 10ltr saucepan. I finally threw it out last New Years' Day!

Good Lord, I hope not! There never were in the comics.

Reminds me of someone who extracts money for gullible mugs with Beau Peep on them.

That helps fund the site, and is more pain than it's worth. £6.25 INCLUDING post and packing (and me trudging to the Post Office in all weathers). Bloody bargain I'd say.
