Jeez, I have a crap team.

Yes, I know, a bad workman always blames his tools. But what if the tools he is given ARE blunt, with a crap attitude who can't even kick a ball?

One of my guys upended an opponent in the penalty area - a blatant penalty, no complaints about that, but the opponent was going AWAY from goal and was on his way out of the box. It was stupid. He didn't even get a card for it, so got off lightly - we went one goal down, He then allowed an opponent to dance around him TWICE on his way to goal and caused the second goal. He then fouled players on two separate occasions and earned a red card - got sent off. On leaving the field of play he took off his shirt in a temper display. I told him to put it back on or he'd never play for the team again, he kept walking towards the bench, he did put the shirt back on, but then abused me, the team, the club and everyone he could think of, using the f---, the c--- and a few other words, so I lost my temper and said he could take his kitbag, he could f--- off and he was a useless c--- anyway.

I blame the manager. Fancy putting someone like that in your team, let alone defence!
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

We're bottom of the Premier Youth League here in SE Queensland. As a coach, I've never been bottom of any league ever, at any time, until this season.
I'm honestly not bothered about my team's position on the table, as such, but my son plays in the side and I also have three or four other good players and their heads are starting to go down at the antics of some of the clowns they play alongside. It's very frustrating for them.

Having said all that, it's crucial experience for me, I always say coaches should have certain milestones in their career, one is to coach women, another is to coach kids (juniors), another is to coach Youth, and yet another is to coach a hopeless cause (at whatever level). This year is the final entry in the resume.

Them's the realities of coaching adults, Diane, (or adult men at least). The refs tried bringing in a Zero Tolerance policy on swearing by players and coaches, and junked it after about two games, otherwise every they'd have to send everyone off. They now limit it to swearing loud enough to be heard by spectators 30m away and/or swearing at the officials, with a special sanction against the c--- word. Quite right too.

Oh remember me...I was the one who called a whole game last year when I was coaching - I hobbled (bone spur at the time) up to the other coach who was chatting with her friend by the goalposts and told her why. "Your kids are being little shits so I'm calling the game okay". I never got asked to coach this year some some strange reason.
