Question for you Scottish people about lemons.
« on: May 31, 2007, 03:13:24 PM »
Do you use a lot of lemons in your cooking? Fresh or bottled juice? Do you like lemon juice on your pancakes? In Canada we use syrup on our pancakes but I was thinking back to the zesty..is that the right word? taste of pancakes sprinkled with lemon juice.

What makes lemons special I wonder...

Lemons do have an "acidic" nature.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

I have been known to put the odd slice in a gin and tonic. That reminds me...
Years ago, I was on a night out with a mate of mine (Actually, it was Elizabeth's husband, Ron) and we decided to go on the gin and tonics. Bars in those days seldom kept lemons so we took our own slices from pub to pub. It was interesting to see the reaction as we produced these increasingly ragged citrus slivers from the top pockets of our jackets, blew the fluff off them, and dropped them in our drinks. We was dead classy.

Had you said you liked the tart taste of lemons instead of going on and on about your pub crawl - I would be quids up now mate.

She's not bitter though (I could have used the other word, but I thought better of it).
I apologise, in advance.

I managed it, Roger - a nice duvet cover.
I apologise, in advance.

I did better than that - a 200:1 scale model of Dolly Parton's bra.
