Did Anyone Famous Go To Your School?
« on: October 06, 2012, 08:03:02 AM »
I posted this on another thread but thought it might make a good thread on its own. Robert Carlyle went to my school. Not at the same time, he's a few years younger than me, but he was born in Maryhill and attended North Kelvinside Secondary. He no doubt attended Shakespeare Primary School too, where I also was.

Ridley Scott was also at my school (a different one)

Oh all right, I'll accept anyone famous you may have encountered as long as it wasn't for two seconds as they said "hello" to you in a lift.

Short conversation with Harrison Ford (yes, that one).  If my memory serves me, I think it was 'Hello'.  And 'nice food'.

Also, Steven Spielberg spoke to me.  Well, a few others as well at the same time - just Directional outbursts.

The Queen drove right in front of our school during her Silver Jubilee year. We all stood out there with our little flags; she graciously slowed down and waved.
People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Edward Heath and Frank Muir. I went to Chatham House Grammar School in Ramsgate. I revisited it a few weeks ago and see it's amalgamated with the equivalent girls' school now - Clarendon House.

There weren't no birds there when I was head-boy.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

Went to the same school as William Hague, yes, I know! I was in the 4th Form, Year 10 I think they
call it now, when he was in the 6th Form and did "the speech" at the Tory Party Conference!

He was held in the highest of esteem and as an example for all other pupils!

Nob then, nob now!

Suffice to say I didn't follow in his foot steps! Trained as a sparky!  :o

I was trying to find out more names from North Kelvinside, but the "alumni" lists are pretty nondescript. Apart from Paul Numpty. Only Scots will snigger at that one.
