Disappointment in the bathroom.
« on: March 07, 2013, 03:48:48 PM »
So yesterday I got our main-floor bathroom all set up for the 34 chicks that should have been arriving today by mail at the post office (Columbian and Barred Plymouth Rocks for those who are interested) – two big tubs lined with newspaper and woodchips, waterers filled, huge tub of woodchips on the countertop and a bag of chick starter feed at the ready – then they phoned and said I would have to wait until next week because they had a “poor hatch”. Then last night my Uni son phones home and says he is coming home out the blue this weekend – now I have to get all my chicken stuff out the bathroom before he moans about it.

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Just don't tell him that the 'chicks' are the yellow fluffy kind...!

Firstly, the story wasn't as worrying as the headline suggested.
Secondly, you DO lead an interesting life, Ms Haskell.

It can be especially embarrassing when your son arrives home unexpectedly, and you have a load of chicks in the bathroom, Diane, believe me. At least you had warning.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

Well it might have been interesting if they had sent any. Fingers crossed for next week.

Sorry, I've never been very good with farmyard animals. Was that okay?
