I refuse to play those silly sombrero/Portuguese language games, obrigado very much.
Great holiday, lousy trip home. We boarded the plane bang on time and taxied to the runway for our 11.30 a.m. flight to Edinburgh. The captain announced fine weather ahead and a pleasant three-hour journey home. Five minutes later, he announced the dreaded "technical problems" and it was back to the terminal. We sat in the plane for about an hour as the temperature rose and the numerous babies on board began wailing in unison before being informed that the plane was kaput and we all had to disembark. We finally took off on a replacement plane at 5 p.m.---8 hours after getting to the airport. Ah, well...
The holiday itself was excellent. My wife and I sampled some excellent seafood and managed the odd glass of wine in the balmy evenings. The days were spent swimming, reading and taking lazy walks in the hot sun. Ideal.
I know I have to get back to work tomorrow but I can't remember what I do.

Glad it was a good one Roger, shame about the flight. They really should allow stowing of babies in the overhead lockers when you're delayed...it's the kindest thing for all.

Me and the family are off to Turkey for the first time in a few weeks with an airline that has very few letters in it's name, but that I still can't pronounce. We believe the price included a pilot, but we cant be sure so my son is brushing up on his flight sims. If anyone has any advice regarding Turkey, apart from don't go (or gas mark 5 for 6hrs), I'll gladly listen.

PS Don't start back work. Problem solved.   :)

Welcome back, Roger. Shame you had to endure so much misery at the airport.

My advice would be to purchase a 2nd home in the Algarve, then you could visit whenever you wanted, even live there for long periods. As you are a writer, (that's what it is that you do), it would mean you could continue to work without any problems.

Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

Did they inform anyone other than the babies?

QUOTE-SAMPLING!
By the way, the real reason that I didn't indulge in the sombrero/Portuguese language stuff was that I had no idea how to do either and couldn't be arsed finding out.
I'm going to have my dinner now. Pork chops and broad beans.

Just to let you know that, at the last minute, I substituted green beans for broad beans. I'm crazy like that.
