Flu shots & Yes (Prime) Minister
« on: January 08, 2014, 05:36:46 AM »
A friend posted on Facebook that the Alberta health minister is encouraging everyone to get the flu shot but only bought 1.1 million shots for a population of 3.8 million.  I suggested that if the minister really wanted everyone to get the flu shot, s/he should leak to the press that they bought 1.1 million flu shots and 2.7 million body bags. This brought to mind what Prime Minister Hacker would do in Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister – absolutely brilliant shows.

Now we can talk about flu shots and/or that comedy classic  :)

You missed your vocation, Diane! Politics loss, not yours. Loved both Minister shows, and even more so for their use of Gerald Scarfe's work in the opening titles. Superb writing, and wonderful casting, particularly of the three main protagonists.

British sitcoms often rightly (in my opinion) come in for a lot of flak, but at their best, they're brilliant indeed.
I apologise, in advance.

Whatever you're watching, Diane, keep warm! I notice that just South of the border from you, in my favourite stomping ground of Montana, temperatures have dipped to -52 f.
That's a bit nippy.

I watch them every few years - always great. Nobody else finds them funny so I watch them on my own. It was so nice when my daughter found Dad's Army funny, my eldest son also enjoyed a few of them over the hols. Other than "Corner Gas" Canadian humour is really not funny at all in my opinion - love these old UK shows. We are such a fortunate generation to be able to re-visit the TV of our youth.

We had it down to -36C - never know how to compare Cs to Fs. They don't stop school busses until it gets to -40C.
The worst part this winter is the WARM temps - making our roads into ice rinks - then cooling so fast that the salt doesn't work on them - there has been a lot of accidents this winter. Much better if it just stays cold the whole time.

Don't. I know people who have used his services in the past. Sometimes he says he clears the snow through psychic melting from afar, and that it takes at least half a year. At other times he uses imaginary path cleaners, and requires you to 'believe' there is no snow there. Absolute rip off.

Not from afar, Mince. From a fart. You really should listen harder.
