Technical aid requested (the idiot's guide version).
« on: December 02, 2015, 07:53:48 PM »
I seem to recall, some time in the past, being able to post YouTube videos on here. I am now clueless about the process. (Pause for "there's a surprise" jokes). Anyway, does anyone fancy giving me a very simple, step by step, I'm-talking-to-an-imbecile guide?

I have fixed it so that you need only post the YouTube link, thus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyxjO-rCqv4

And just so you know, trying to get that to work exploded the whole board and I had to work extra shifts to get it all back up and running.

Redundant

Nice work Mince.  One day, when I'm suitably miffed at the world, I'll explain my "Stupidity is the new normal" theory.   It has less to do with stupidity itself, more the perception of stupidity.  My premise being that as stupidity becomes more prevalent the problem shifts from those who are stupid, to those who question the stupidity.   Something to look forward to.

As an example, I was the bad guy when I pointed out to a supplier that of the four invoices he has to send me each year, three were wrong and returned to him.   Apparently I should have just paid the incorrect amounts and ignored the lack of dates/invoice reference etc.

Websites are the same.   We make them more and more simple to use, which eradicates the need to think, and increases the likelihood that eventually AI will consider us obsolete.

My apologies for the diatribe, apparently I am more miffed than I thought.

That's great. Thanks very much. How do I do that, then?

Roger, every web page and every YouTube video has a URL, which is the link found at the top of the browser. Just copy this into your post and click the POST button.

So for the above YouTube video, just copy the following into your post:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoVLhUxhdSw

Obviously for this post I have done some technical wizardry to stop the URL in blue from being turned into the youtube video, but when you do it, you will find it produces the video when you post.

I suspect you may need to rewind to "copy", and post annotations...
I apologise, in advance.

Roger, do you need me to go into more detail?

You expect him to know the answer to that?
I apologise, in advance.

Not sure. I've been a bit busy today and haven't got round to trying it out. Will probably have a go over the weekend.
