Sometimes I think I'm going to meet myself going backwards...

...and I'm tempted to leave it at that, it's such a great line!   But the muse is on me, so stop reading now if you're looking for clarity, we can call this my rambling spot and I can just post in the same thread each time.

So let's review.   In July of 2015, just before my holiday, I got my redundancy notice, which was to finish at the end of September that year.   It's now February 2016 and I'm still being made redundant, and the date keeps shifting, right now it's scheduled for the end of March.   Oh, there's going to be some musical interludes, I've found some amazing music lately, and the muse insists I share, so here's the first, a chap called Dylan LeBlanc, the song is called "Lightning and Thunder", from the album "Cautionary Tale".

Where was I?   So I'm looking for work, and there's a dearth of that around here lately, at least of the kind that doesn't make me scream at night, but there's one which reminds me of this one, which I've loved doing.   I jumped out of the nightmare back in 2007, and haven't regretted a moment and I admit, I'm a tad pissed this one's come to an end.  So this potential job, it's got my name written all over it, but it's proving elusive.   As usual a perfect scenario is being ruined by...people.   In this case people who sit on committees, playing endless political and social games, which in the end either produce bugger all, or get them on a New Years Honour List, for what should be called "Services to Bullshit" but isn't.   It's only other drawback is terrible pay, but I can live with that because the rest of it is pure gold, every day potentially different, every talent I have called into service, and only one man to blame if it all goes wrong, me.

But I'm persevering, and the longest period of redundancy I've ever personally known is clearly advantageous at this point.   Then a bolt out of blue, a job offer from someone I not only like, respect and admire, but whom I know I would be able to work with very easily, good pay, good holidays et al.   Safe too, nothing to learn in this one, I know it all very well, having done it for many years.   I hate safe, but that's also the place I like to keep my better half, and compared to the other possibility it's the brick house of the three little pigs.

Jason Isbell, the song is "24 Frames" from the album "Something more than free"

Oh but the bright side, it's a wonder.   When I make my wife laugh, and I manage to do that [deliberately] quite often, I could drown in that sound.   When someone catches my eye in the street, I get to play silly buggers and tip my hat, which always gets a smile.  For more on the hats you'll have to find a much earlier post, the journey may not be that worthwhile.  When I take what seems to be an endless number of pictures, sit here trolling through them and just hit one that truly works, that actually [almost] tells the story I wanted it to tell...

And the music, and the friends, and the films that flip my emotions, and the forum comments that reduce me to grinning like a Cheshire cat, and the fact Mince will hate this sentence because it's going on too long, and the e-mails shared with my Grandson, and the phone calls shared with my Son, and the greetings on the stairs where my office is, and...

This an a cappella band called Straight no Chaser, the song features Seal and one of his original songs, "Kissed by a Rose", the album is called "Under he influence"

And finally something that shouldn't work, but does, for me at least, Celtic Pink Floyd from the album of the same name, the song is "Mother" [give it a chance, it grows on you]

Is your new job to be a DJ...or did I miss the point.
People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Here, here! I think we should all follow suit, with appropriate soundtracks. I enjoyed your choices so much, Red, that I've just bought a Straight No Chaser album on iTunes.

I apologise, in advance.

Did that, HMS Charybdis in the late seventies, before they invented all the fancy stuff like iPods, iPads etc.   HMS Hermes being an aircraft carrier warranted a video studio too, and we would record shows and play films etc.   HMS Charybdis was a Leander class frigate, so we just got a small radio shack to play music and other stuff [on vinyl of course].   The point?   The point...how about a celebration of the complexities and joys of life, and how music can play such an important part in retaining your sanity?

It's good stuff isn't it!

Thanks Roger and Tarks is right, more rambling and more music would be  8)

It had to end sometime, I have my final redundancy date which is 31st May 2016, which is exactly ten months since I was first "made" redundant and eight months since I should have left the company originally.

I still don't have another job, and the one I was banking on, went south yesterday.   I used to be in the corporate service business [otherwise known as the "Where can I hide my money this week" business].   Because I have been out of that particular industry for several years [just ahead of losing my sanity] the Financial Services Commission [otherwise known as the "How do we either dodge or explain this one" Commission] have decided I cannot be given a licence to work in that industry.

My stupidity is the new normal theory remains strong and active [see earlier thread(s)].

Fear not, I still have my cough...cough...health and my...other stuff to sustain me, besides Donald Trump will see me alright now I've switched sides and fully support his presidential ambitions [I suspect he doesn't know where the Isle of Man is, never mind we can't vote in US elections].

Regarding your avatar, Stephen Spielberg's television series Amazing Stories had an episode called Hell Toupee.

That's...amazing.   Unfortunately, in order to qualify for "Trump Largesse" I have had to change it slightly [apparently he doesn't have a sense of humour...]
