Christmas checklist...
« on: December 02, 2016, 09:11:57 PM »
  • Climb ladder, enter loft, bang head, topple boxes, repeat - check
  • Pass down fifteen boxes of Christmas "decorations", spilling minimum of two - check
  • Over an hour freezing butt off whilst 'modelling' twenty odd Christmas trees before settling on the first one - check
  • Test four sets of Christmas tree lights before putting them on said tree - check
  • Forty minutes finding dud bulbs on two sets of Christmas tree lights which died ten minutes after they hit the tree [two hundred spare bulbs, not one the right size, B&Q and replace] - check
  • Forlornly wish for cat to kick - check
  • Two sets of Christmas lights around living room ceiling - check
  • Skin blisters from trapped fingers in stepladder - check
  • Two sets of Christmas lights in kitchen - check
  • Replace broken light fitting in kitchen - check
  • Four sets exterior Christmas lights in back garden, frostbite, still no cat - check
  • Apologise to wife and neighbours for unseasonal foul language - check

And only twenty-three days to go - Ho Ho Ho

Hah! We had nineteen boxes. Winner! And we stored them all sneakily in my Dad's loft.

So that's twelve sets of Christmas tree lights? Twelve? And I thought we were mad.

Anyway, here's our house.

I shall be following a long-established festive tradition of driving to the local all-night filling station around 11pm on December 24th, so that I may choose from whatever is left of their extensive range of budget Christmas crackers, in order to accompany the Yuletide pizzas the following day. Well, you've got to make the effort, haven't you?!

Deck the halls...blah, blah...
I apologise, in advance.

Tarks, are you saying that's all you do to celebrate Christmas? Do you know how many Santas die as a result of such complacency?

He's clearly never visited the legendary "Santa's Graveyard", never seen the ground littered with windblown red hats, or heard the slowly rusting bells ringing forlornly in the breeze...

I found this funny. I found the original article when looking for the photo - this was done in 2009.

I can't help thinking that had I been given an air rifle for Christmas, I'd have spent much of my time shooting baubles off the Christmas tree.

Who do you think would win between the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus?

The whole house/light/grotto/lookatus thing amuses me. We sit between two houses that used to compete. Then one foggy Xmas eve, Santa came to, Homebargains came to town. RHS neighbour covered every inch with lighting, visible from Venus, and caused LHS neighbour to have a strop. She now bedecks her back garden/patio/playhouse area with lots of very bright lights. "Well it's better for the grandkids to enjoy". Aye, right !! It's that bloody bright when the two of them switch their lights on, it makes our house transparent.
Damned embarrassing if one is on the throne !

I thought this would be a good weekend to decorate the house. It wasn't. I do have two new tartan living room pillows. I think that is enough decorating don't you.
