Get me a job
« on: September 21, 2007, 11:35:16 AM »
I have decided I want to return to work in the UK.
I have really missed the place, the culture and the crack, and though I like Australia and the Aussies (most of whom are Poms anyway) I really have enjoyed my time here on holiday.
I'm talking to a couple of people over the next week or so regarding a move back to Britain.

I haven't discussed this with my wife yet, as she will offer quite some resistance. She loves Australia a lot more than I do, to the point of obsession, in fact.
I'm tempted to give my boys one more year of football in Oz before we move back, but I was shocked to find that a friend's son who we visited yesterday (older brother of the little lad who was in the Sun newspaper who came to play for Man U) had to jump almost two years of schooling. He was in his last term of primary in Oz and now must enter his second term of secondary school.

More later.

How do we lodge an objection?  :o
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

I also like the fact that I can post here in "real" time, not like in Oz where I'm often posting when you lot are in bed.

I've been watching Man U and Celtic in my time zone too, instead of having to wait up intil three in the morning. Didn't stop Celtic playing absolute sh*te, though.

I agree with that, they were terrible, and what about Nakamura?
Not being able to get a corner kick over the first head (twice), schoolboy stuff.

And I believe they lost to Hibs this weekend. Oh dear. Is it time for Wee Gordon to take the high road?

I was in Bristol yesterday to visit my oldest son and catch up with my sisters, who also made the trip (one from Dorset, the other from London).

What a great day! I passed right by Shrewsbury on the train, so wasn't able to pop in to see any of you who may live locally, but I am becoming increasingly enamoured of that Welsh borders area, and I wasn't shot or stabbed once.

The ambush did not work. I told you Mince that the archers would not work.

That'd be me then.  >:(

I've lived on (the wrong side of) the Welsh border for five years now, and I can confirm that I have indeed very rarely been stabbed or shot. Apologies if this is disappointing news to some.
I apologise, in advance.

Tarks, could you get me a house there?

I'll pay you back.

I used to live in a town called Buckley, this town is two miles from Mold. A very pretty area and the best drinking water from the taps.

We have a show over here from the BBC called escape to the country - it makes me homesick but at the same time I don't see how people can afford houses in GB anymore.

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Diane, I'm a Liverpudlian and I used to go to a boarding school near Mold. The water in Liverpool comes from Wales and you're right, it's the best drinking water from the taps. I've been in London for 43 years and I still can't drink the water that comes from the tap.
