We have lost a lot of the snow from the roofs and decks but still a lot on the ground.

Tarqs - I do love crisps too and of course I got some.  The thing I craved for most was some little plants to pot together and was lucky to find a few mini spring plants (not many available), I assembled them into a kitchen table spring garden which has cheered me up all week. I also got a whole bunch of fresh fruit and veggies.

Hubby did bring things home - mostly eggs and milk and once he got a bunch of bananas.

Talking about "The Great Escape" I dug my little dog Rowley out of a pickle after all the snow slid off the roof in one fell swoop and trapped him in a pocket of safety. Also I am listening to such an interesting audio book called Prisoners of the Castle by Ben MacIntyre who also wrote Rogue Heroes. Real men's stories but put together in a storytelling way with a great narrator.  It is one of those books that will stay with me.

Um...no and no.
She got home at the end of December but is in a wheelchair for the foreseeable future. She is also still in a lot of pain with nurses coming in daily to help her in and out of bed. Her daughter---my niece---is staying with her at the moment and that's a big help. Typically, my sister remains upbeat but I know she's in considerable, almost constant, pain.
Thanks for asking, Diane. I have already passed on your earlier good wishes and those of others on this board. They were much appreciated.

She's still in considerable pain, Diane. She was sent back to hospital so that they could check if there was any infection after the operation. After a six hour wait, they gave her the all-clear and sent her home again without addressing the pain issue. We're now hoping her local doctor can finally sort things out. She's been in pain for about four months now---a horribly long time.
Anyway, thanks for asking, Diane, and I hope your Winter is easing up!

That's awful, much too long to be in pain.

Our winter was clearing out but came back with gusto last Tuesday - about 14" of new snow, the road to the highway was blocked for over two days so I missed my waterworks pool exercises. The moose came back, it is an annoying one, the others trimmed big trees, this one is into my little patch of perennials outside the kitchen window and trimmed the lilacs and the rose bushes I planted a couple of years ago. It's like it has a sweet tooth. I tooted the air horn that I bought for the bears and used that on it yesterday, but here it was again today walking a few feet from the window.

We had a window broken over the Christmas holidays when a grouse flew into it - it was stunned for a bit but recovered and then flew off.

I am really noticing the snow holes and tunnels this year - from rabbits to mice (I think) I have not wanted to stand around and watch animals emerge.

Enough animals stories to make a delightful children's book LOL

Yet another wonderful photo, Diane. Despite our Winter being mostly mild, it's been very wet and I look forward to seeing that yellow ball in the sky again.

Horribly long indeed, Roger - so sorry to read this. I've been waiting patiently for Diamond Lil to pop up on the quiz page again (many thanks to Diane and Zesty for keeping me company meanwhile :) ). Give her my best wishes please - I hope the pain eases very soon.
I apologise, in advance.
