It has been brought to my attention that, in today's Horace, I mentioned something about a "life penalty for cattle-rustling". I..um..appear to have confused "life sentence" with "death penalty".
Forgive me.

I thought I had done a clever little gag in my strip many years ago, where a woman asks her husband for help with a crossword clue:

"another word for 'pig', -three letters"

"ewe"

"how do you spell that"?

"Y.O.U."

It was only when I tried to re-work it into another strip recently I realised I had meant "sow" and that the Y.O.U. gag was therefore rendered null and void.

But that's even funnier: (1) he is calling his wife a "pig"; (2) he doesn't realise that he is declaring himself stupid in doing so.

And now, with your post here, there is (3) the added bonus that even the cartoonist is kinda stupid as well.

It would work if it was inflicted on a character who was known for his sheep-like tendencies, i.e. always following others, and if the set-up explained this, the rest could follow, but it would be much better for all concerned if a ewe was a female pig.

That "Scotland-You Can Do It" banner looks a little daft now. Maybe it could be altered to "You Can Do It If Another Team Gets Disqualified".
