This week's strips
« on: July 07, 2008, 08:07:19 PM »
I think I may have commented about this before, but have a look at Strip number 6 showing on this Site for this week.
# Why is the lettering in the last frame of a different style?
# Why has Beau got that stranger-than-normal expression?
# What is Dennis  really  saying ?
# Why the sandwich?
# Is this strip some kind of coded message, yet to be deciphered?
# Has Baker got too much time on his hands?
Well I reckon Roger slipped in a line that was just a bit too rude , even for the Star,  and was over-written by the Cartoon Editor.  Ohh, I just love conspiricy theories.

# Why is the lettering in the last frame of a different style? The typesetter ran out of the other letters??
# Why has Beau got that stranger-than-normal expression? Looks the same to me.
# What is Dennis  really  saying ? Where are those questions coming from?
# Why the sandwich? 'coz it's lunchtime?
# Is this strip some kind of coded message, yet to be deciphered? ... Nope!
# Has Baker got too much time on his hands? I think the answer to that would be: YES!

Hmm. Well, I've just had a look and I have to agree that the lettering in the final strip is not by Andrew. I have no idea why this should be. You may be right in assuming I'd written something that the cartoon editor found offensive, although---as you pointed out---I can't imagine what this could be in "The Daily Star". Maybe I used a three-syllable word.

# Why is the lettering in the last frame of a different style? Don't know.
# Why has Beau got that stranger-than-normal expression? Didn't notice.
# What is Dennis  really  saying ? Beats me.
# Why the sandwich? To taunt Dennis with.
# Is this strip some kind of coded message, yet to be deciphered? No. I've already deciphered it.
# Has Baker got too much time on his hands?Tosh!

Hope you don't mind, but I plan to steal your theory and use it as the basis of a bestseller. No offence.

As the strip has changed now, can somebody please tell me which this one was?

Fydo, it was posted as a quote in July of 2008. Most of the words in the quote are obviously Rob's, but the orange amendments would be yours. Perhaps you've just forgotten you posted it.
I apologise, in advance.

Doh!
Thanks Tarks. Apart from my own stupidity, my only excuse is the constant shenanigans on this site. I have endless difficulty deciphering who's posting what, who's having posts hidden from them etc.

Andy Capp was funny in The Philippine Star this morning. It was the one about leaving Flo, and saying he was independent, with no further need for her services, but might send her a post-card. He then paused, and on reflection asked her if she'd got any stamps.

Utterly surreal how this strip works out here, but funny, never-the-less.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

Thank you.
