One thing I learned from meeting very old friends in the UK was that essentially we don't change much over the years. Our outer appearance may change slightly, but our characteristics remain the same - our mannerisms, gestures, the way we talk, and behave, remain basically the same.
If I thought you were likely to make them, I would say, "No snide remarks from you, Mr Kettle!", but I think that's very unlikely, unless you've changed.
