Energy Saving Tips
« on: September 22, 2008, 02:23:43 PM »
I thought we could do our bit for the planet by posting novel energy-saving tips here. We all know the common ones like "only boil as much water as you actually need", but maybe we should come up with some of our own.

Parents should give new offspring short names like "Jim" and "Sue", rather than longer names like "Ethelred" and "Constantine". Over the years, the time saved by people keying the shorter names into computers when filling in forms etc would soon add up to a substantial amount.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

If we shared clothes, we would not have to buy or make so many, and that would save energy. Peepmaster, do you have any sisters?

If so. Mince would like their clothes.
I apologise, in advance.

It's an interesting thought - Mince wearing little girls' clothes... NOT!

It does give me another idea. Everyone should live in hot countries so we don't have to produce jumpers and cardigans. No wooly socks either.

Also, everything we manufactured for that country would be there already as we would already be there ourselves, so shipping costs and implications would be removed.

Women could do more washing by hand, (especially if it's just a few items). They could also prepare more salads at mealtimes to cut down on using cookers and microwaves.

These are excellent ideas, Peeps, and I, too, am doing my bit for the environment. I now insist that my wife cuts the grass with a non-electric mower. Not only does it save on energy but it builds up her muscles for log-chopping. It's a win/win situation.

If I go upstairs to put clean laundry away etc, I will talk myself into spending a penny as I am walking by the washroom anyway. This saves me a lot of energy.

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

You've got your Andy Capp head on haven't you, Roger?  ;D

You could have a shower at the same time, Diane, to save water.

You have a toilet seat in your shower cabinet, Diane? That's ingenious!
I apologise, in advance.

Shower cabinet? Ditch the cabinet and have just you making the decisions, Diane.
