Diane - my 2-hour trip with the turkey stuffing to be with bro and co seems like nothing compared to your marathon journey - stay safe.

To everyone else...have a happy time.  It's been good to be back in the bosom of this family over the last few weeks

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Thanks for letting me off cooking the virtual dinner this year, Roger.  I'll do my best next year, but I'm not promising anything! The other half has everything under control at this end - I'm actually finding it difficult not to offer advice (butt in) unless asked.  This is the first day in the last 9 days I've felt (almost) normal for most of the day.  Hopefully it will continue into tomorrow and onwards and upwards from there to the next time.  I intend to have my traditional G&T tomorrow at around 11am.  I just won't be sweating it out in the kitchen when I'm enjoying it.  We're due for a nice cool 25C and rain.  Lucky you, having a white Christmas.  I have had 31 Christmases in Scotland and not one of them was white.  I'm with Lil, Diane - that Christmas day trip of yours always amazes me - drive safely.

Have a wonderful Christmas everybody, wherever you are.

Cheers,
Joan

Yes, Merry Christmas everyone - turkey's in, dishwasher's on, floors are vaccuumed, pool's being cleaned and I got up at 8.30am - gosh, I'm enjoying myself!  I've allocated myself a job - the table.

That's a great card, TT.  Thank you.  :)

Mind you, I suppose the turkey will be in the dishwasher by the time he gets round to actually washing the dishes.

It's about 11pm here in Oz and Christmas is nearly over -HOORAY!!!!
I'm a real grinch, I have always hated Christmas, especially in Australia because it's too hot and the whole place literally shuts down for weeks ahead of the day and remains shut until late January.
For a football lover like me, it's a double whammy because we just got started with some pre-season training, which then got suspended, and will not take off again until January 4.
The Premier League comes to the rescue, with Boxing Day games, but of course for us the games are at night, so I can't see them with a mate down at the pub.
We do have our own A League football, and there are controversies and intrigues pertaining to that, but to be honest our local league is just as good, and I often spend the weekend teeing up two or more games to see, driving from one to the other, maybe catching only the second half of the second game. This is on top of seeing my own kids play.
Anyway, Christmas day is over, we're on the way out of the season, and that's the REAL celebration. Here's to Business As Usual and normal life!

Half of my lot have gone to St. Andrews for a walk on the snow-covered beach and the other half have gone for a rest. Guess who's been left to cook Christmas dinner? It's shameful, I tellsya. Actually, I don't mind at all and the sun will soon be over the yardarm. G and T time.
Back to work tomorrow...

Good news is that my mother-in-law, who had a massive stroke shortly after I landed back in Oz, is making a solid recovery, feeding herself and has been moved to a rehab unit prior to going back home at some time in the future. This is of course a fantastic development as far as the family is concerned, not least my missus.

Juts wanted to throw that in there, in a spirit of, er... non-Grinchness.

No need to all write how glad you are to hear, give thanks, etc, etc...I know you're all lovely people who will be cheered by the news, articulating it it just wastes bandwidth, and I'll take it as given.

There. The Grinch is back.
