Iconic drivel.
« on: September 05, 2012, 09:12:42 PM »
When did mediocre, famous-for-fifteen-minutes celebrities start becoming "icons"? When did something like a bog standard pop band/TV show/TV advert/poster/footballer become "iconic"?
I hate people who use the word "icon".

I thought only Steve Austin was iconic.

Epic!
People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

And the great thing about never watching television is that you no longer care who is a celebrity.

Mind you, I am getting into Radio 5 Live - listening to the US Open Murray match.

Don't go easy on me Vulture, just tell me straight. I can take it. I do so hate it when you tiptoe around the issue, trying to break the news gently.

I don't do the brutally honest bit, Jack. I get upset when I see a grown man cry.

If someone is being famous during unsocial hours, dont they just need to be famous for 10mins since it'll be at time and a half ??    :-\

I'm sure Mince was described as iconic in a post some time ago. I need to check. Hang on...

Oh no, "moronic", sorry.
