Is This Anything?
« on: June 03, 2013, 08:03:56 PM »
I was very happy with this until a Certain Person happened by on their way to the loo. Come and have a look at my cartoon, says me. There followed a bit of squinting and sucking of teeth, but no recognition of anything approaching a joke.

So is there a joke here?

So the guy is unimpressed with the woman because she did not have the sense to tie her hair around something solid first before lowering it down.

Yes, that is it in a nutshell. Or, to put it another way. No, you are a complete knob.

I'm thinking of changing the punchline.

Change it to: "Next time, Dearest, tie it round something solid."

I refer the right honourable gentleman to the answer I gave earlier.

While you guys trade insults, I'll laugh at the cartoon. (I like the way she's holding onto the window opening   ;D)

The "knobhead" reference made me laugh too though. 1-0 Malc.   ;)

And assuming that man does not have velcro footwear, the mere fact that only the force or gravity acting through his feet against the wall via the rotational moment of the woman's head is enabling him to climb the tower, that same force must be strong enough to scalp the woman. And what woman in her right mind would risk having her scalp torn off when a (rotational) moment's thought would have brought her to the conclusion that the safest way would be to anchor her hair round something solid. I can only assume the said sucking of teeth of Mr Certain Person was indicative of the paradoxically impossible situation presented to him in the cartoon.

Change the punchline to: "This cartoon should be rotated clockwise 90 degrees for it to make more sense."

Thank goodness she doesn't use conditioner or he would have slid right down again.

I think there's certainly a joke there.
For me, the punchline's fine. Could the drawing be worked so that it's even more awkward/ungainly?

or

Rapunzel, face down in a crumpled heap at the base of the tower. Prince standing next to the heap with tresses still in hand?
