Since we all get on so well together
« on: November 20, 2007, 09:13:10 AM »
I thought I would let you know that I have been a bit unwell of late.

In the last 2 months, I've been to the Docs 3 times, hospital 3 times and am now attending a chiropracter.

The problem is that across the top of my shoulders and neck is in agony (possible trapped nerve or slipped disc).
This has resulted in loss of strength in my hands. I cant hold a fork without a bit of discomfort and it takes me about 10 minutes to put on a pair of socks.
It has also affected my left leg, I have slight feeling in that but the other day I was trying to get in the car and my leg just gave way. I rattled my shin off the car, and for only having slight feeling in it, it was f#@king sore.

I am now off work for 2 weeks in which time the problem wont be fixed.
It feels weird as I've never taken a sicky before..

Anyway, I just thought I would share this.
It has taken me 15 minutes to write this but I'm not looking for any sympathy, (an email saying that I have won the Christmas competition will do, that would really cheer me up  ;D)

The lengths some people will go to!  ::)

Seriously though, I do hope you're back in fine fettle before too long, Colin.

Sounds awful, Colin. I hope you win the competition soon.
I apologise, in advance.

Just take your clothes off and lie on the trolley please. I want to give the tea lady a fright.

But seriously...
Have you done anything particularly strenuous lately just before this came on? I'm thinking of any heavy lifting, such as heaving a whole train off a track to save a child who'd fallen in its path.
Or, more realistically, lifting a double mattress so that your wife rolls out of bed after you've nudged her umpteen times to stop her snoring.

It sounds like nerve damage, is what I'm saying, and it may have eventuated due to some sudden effort or action you're not used to. It may have taken place some days before the pain really took hold.

It sounds to me like a dislocated shoulder. My advice is to run very hard into a wall.

I hope things improve quickly.

If I started on all my problems I would be still telling you well after Christmas.
But I soldier on, let it not be said that a trouble share is a pain in the Bum

Sorry to hear that you're in such pain Colin. Can't the doctors find anything?

Have you tried putting a hot towel around your neck?

Oooo, nasty Colin - you have my sympathy.  I bet you're really irritable too!  Hope it improves soon.  Have you tried a heat lamp, or even one of those thingies you can heat in the microwave?  I always find that helps ease it a bit, but maybe yours is just too extreme for that.  Take care.

OMG, I forgot the comma!  ::)  Actually, I didn't - I just thought it looked ridiculous: three words and two commas, so there, Mince!  I tend to agree with Tarquin - I thought I was picky about grammar, but you take the cake!  ;D

PS: I suspect that Peter can spell perfectly and his grammar is excellent.  It's all just a put on, and you learned everything you know from him.  ;)

Missing the comma for addressing someone sometimes leads to confusion. My students have nicknames on my student board. Here are some of their missing-comma gems.
