Dennis' slugs sauteed in boot polish

To be fair, much like the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, I am doing trial runs of the recipes at home before making any decisions.

WARNING – do not fry in boot polish – highly flammable!

Why are they called Brussels Sprouts? Did someone named Brussels first discover them? They come in all shapes and sizes so they can't be European. Buttered Button Brussels Sprouts are my favourite.

Tom, you should get your "Buttered Button Brussels" in a menu pronto - before someone nicks your idea!

I can't be arsed to come up with a menu.  I was going to go in for some blatant cheating by nicking some ideas from the old Christmas strips, but thought that was a bit un-sporting.  If Diane had set a realistic competition -- like what is the Colonel's wife's middle name, or how may exclamation marks were in the strip published on March 26th 1983, or what is Roger Kettle's inside leg measurement -- I might have had half a chance of winning.

Anyway, this is one from Christmas 2000:

Does anyone want to see some other Egon's-Christmas-Through-The-Ages strips, as inspiration?

This one is from Xmas 1996. I've started putting some more up on the Just a Fort section...

Are you lot remembering there's a competition going on? Good Lord, if nobody else enters, Mice might win!

I only count four entries so far:

Nige:

Brussels Sprout Soup

Ostrich Breast, on a bed of Brussels Sprouts, with a Foam de Egon

______________________

Brussels Sprouts flavoured Ice Cream

Jack:

Quote
Starter: Mince soup, and a bottle of sherry.

Main course: A bit like the traditional turkey with stuffing, but it's mince. With mince stuffing. Rounded out with a couple of bottles of sherry.

Dessert: A brussel sprout, painted to look like a small christmas pudding. And a bottle of sherry.

Mince:

Quote
STARTER: burnt water and poached leftovers from yesterday's leftovers

MAIN COURSE: grilled toenails in camel spit, Dennis' slugs sauteed in boot polish

DESERT: arm-pit sweat ice cream

Anyone else want to dust off their cookbooks?
