Sandy, when you use two exclamation marks instead of a full stop, it suggests you're trying to compensate for the lack of humour in your writing with two huge "Look at me!" exclamation marks, or that you are so unconfident with your humour that you feel the need unsubtly to draw particular attention to it. I think I read that in Fowler's Modern English Usage. Or maybe I just made it up.
Mince, may I thank you sir for another life lesson. So often have I wondered whether I am indeed humorous, but in fairness many people point at me and laugh (some even to the point of tears) so I must be funny in some way, shape or form.
I admit I'm using exclamations too much to be healthy. I'm an addict. There, it's out. God, I feel so much better now. Thank you for drawing particular attention to me. Thank you everyone for your support too.
Water, barley, yeast and sugar. I think I read that on a Fowlers Wee Heavy. Or maybe I just made it up.
Tomorrow I may have the strength to deal with my emoticonism.
PS. This is still about my smiley from Mr. Kettle, isn't it ?
