Notice how Tark's original version works without a punchline. Such amazing economy! And in Tark's version the woman probably did tie her hair round a solid object and then it slipped off, resulting the bloody accident, so it's even more believable in that sense as well.

Most cartoonists have done a Rapunzel gag at some stage of their career. In the one that Andrew and I did for the Lads' Mags about 30 years ago, her head came off.
Not quite as subtle as Malc's.
