Billy the Hut doesn't know about Peter's Tranquil. (If Peter's not Mince.)
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

Don't the 4/7th train out of Cambrai Barracks? I was there in '75 when I was in the Air Corps (briefly).

I performed a heroic act that saved the regiment (please fill in punch line).

Bill doesn't understand - Peter's Tranquil what? Sloth, Aardvark, snake?

Malc,  4/7 were in Fallingbostel in '76.  I was an 'emelet'.

"I performed a heroic act that saved the regiment" - stopped flying!

I had a rabbit that was tranquil once. It turns out it was dead. Very disappointing.

Now, I could be wrong, but I think he meant his missus.
I apologise, in advance.

Hello, Bill and welcome!   I'm the other half of the 2 Scots on here who live in Australia - Malc lives in Queensland and I live in Sydney.  I've got a lot of catching up to do.  I see you've made over 100 posts already - you'll be plastered in no time. I used to be legless, so maybe that comes inbetween. Things are always changing around here, though - I think it's a conspiracy to confuse Roger.  ;)

Joan,  Thanks for the wave.  It's nice to feel welcome, at least by some of the inmates here.  I'm reading up on everyone's exploits from past threads (even though it has been suggested I'm mad to do so - maybe it's a prerequisite to 'posting' on this forum.  Anyway, I'm up to Jan 2009 and only the rest of '09 to go.  Saw your pics from your trip back to Blighty - they were nice.  Hope you are feeling better and our thoughts are with you as you fight this (#1 brat was diagnosed with ALL when 3, relapsed at 7 and is now a sensible lad of 25 - just goes to show).

... We were dressed as Brownshirt Officers.
In the part where 'Indiana' has retrieved the notebook from the girl and was pushed by media into the path of 'Hitler', I am the head to the right of him.  It was an unforgettable night of many scenes, most of which never made it to the film.  The bit where the Brownshirt (between Indiana and Hitler) pushes Indiana out of the way was not in the original script.  That Brownshirt is another British Army Lt Col who had managed to push his way in front of the enterage (mainly Equity bit actors) and accidentally nudged Harrison Ford.  He took this person aside to practice and develop the bit, as he liked the idea.  This guy then has a memorable part in the film.  My uniform by the way had been previously worn by Ian Holm (it still had his name labels in), except the boots - they were too small.

smee :)

http://www.stowe.co.uk/events/filming-and-photography/  shows Stowe School was used in the film.

A picture showing the motley crew prior to filming.  The guy on the right is the one who ends up between 'Indy' and 'Adolf'.

Guess who's on the left.  Faces have been hidden to protect the innocent.
