Malc, the guy in my avatar is Charles de Rudio---an astonishing man. He was a drummer boy with Garibaldi, was caught trying to assassinate a Napoleon and sentenced to the guillotine. He was pardoned at the last minute and sent to Devil's Island from where he escaped in a dugout canoe. Then on to America via London and, after fighting in the Civil War, he ended up in the Seventh Cavalry. He survived the Little Bighorn by hiding on a tree-covered island in the river. A quiet life.

Absolutely amazing. I've never tried drumming with biscuits, but I can't imagine it's easy.

Roger, I watched that game while on holiday at the Coastal Retreat of Berwick Holiday Centre last week.
That was after the Newcastle and Celtic game. Your team were dashed unlucky whereas my team were utter cr@p.

I also used to draw (badly) a regular strip for the fanzine and, unbelievably, the club also want to use some of this stuff as prints in the hospitality suites! I think you can still see these strips if you trawl through the Dundee United sites. My pen name was Mixu McMio (long story).

Hi! That name rings a bell with me (surely a combo of Mixu and Miodrag). Never knew you were Mixu McMio, though I guess it now makes sense. Those strips were pretty good for what they were, when compared to any other football fanzine.

I always assumed Mixu McMio was this guy with swept back hair, stubble and glasses who sometimes crops up in crowd scenes of the shed in these drawings (you can also see him in "Pup Quiz 2023AD" strip). I say that as there was a guy identical to that where we used to stand.

I used to draw some of the other stuff. Usually a single strip and some player caricatures for the end-of-season awards. Never met them. Was all done through stamp. They always wanted me to attend these pre-season drinking sessions at some pub but I don't think they knew I was only 14-ish.

[Roger, I once heard Derek Johnstone describe the flying Finn as "the bookie's favourite, Mixu Pittalineon"...I still think that's funny. He also played for Saints and Wolves, so he's obviously a big favourite in here]

Welcome, Sabata! The fanzine seems a long time ago now but it was fun. The guy I drew in various scenes was a friend and editor of "The Final Hurdle" who can still be found in Frew's pub after every game. Tch!

No, Sabata is not my real name or the one used in the fanzines either (it was "Smiley Arab" Cobra Bora in TFH and WTHC). Sabata is a Van Cleef spaghetti western - I use a random new name everywhere I go online.

Funnily enough, we used to call this aforementioned tall guy with the stubble "Clint" (after Eastwood). I think he was wearing a poncho looking thing too one time in the Shed. Say "hello" to Clint for me!

Anyway, for some reason a few days ago, I was thinking of "Mixu McMio" and put it into Google and this very page came up. I still have all the letters from them, and the drawings and fanzines here somewhere. Haven't looked at them in many years, and unfortunately never been near a football ground either for various reasons. Still check out the results though...
