It was odd at first it felt and sounded like a big lorry passing your house but it just went on and on for about 10 seconds.  get someone to time you close your eyes for ten seconds but also begin shaking.

Sounds pretty scary, Peter. When I was a tiny kid, I lived in Haiti and, I believe, we lived through several spectacular earthquakes. I remember nothing about them, other than what my mother told me. Maybe my sister, Diamond Lil, remembers more.

I was just settling down after posting my gibberish in the thread thread when I started to wobble, with the headboard banging against the wall and a kind of rippling noise went through the wall. As I was so relaxed, I knew instantly that it was an earthquake.

After a short while I forced myself up to have a look at the USGS site who confirmed what I already knew. I then spent the next hour or so watching the BBC News and Sky News as I couldn't sleep expecting an aftershock.

I'm feeling quite tired now.
